Dubai auction raises nearly $27 million for Ramadan food appeal

During an auction held at the Four Seasons hotel in Jumeirah, Dubai, several distinctive car plates and exclusive mobile phone numbers were sold, with the most expensive being number 7 which fetched Dh55 million.

The event was organized by Emirates Auction, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, Etisalat, and Du. It raised nearly Dh100 million ($27 million) for a Ramadan food appeal.

Other plates sold included H31, W78, N41, AA19, AA22, X36, Z37, AA80 and more, resulting in a total of Dh97,920,000 being raised from the auction.

The auction also featured ten exclusive mobile phone numbers from Du and 11 numbers from Etisalat, with the latter fetching more than Dh3.3 million in total.

The top-selling number from Etisalat was 971548888888, which was sold for Dh2.3 million. Meanwhile, the ten impressive numbers from Du were sold for a total of Dh3 million.

The proceeds from selling these unique phone numbers will be donated to the One Billion Meals campaign to alleviate global hunger.
