“Everything is possible if you work hard and believe in yourself”. Interview with Ramona Agruma, the founder of Lemon Ve Limon

She is the founder of Lemon Ve Limon sustainable loungewear brand. At the same time, she recently got engaged to actress Rebel Wilson, and they are together raising their daughter, Royce Lilian.

We met with Ramona Agruma to talk about being lady boss, the challenges she faced and the life lessons she recognized.

You have so many incredible things happened in your life lately — you are now a mother, and you got engaged to your partner. How your daily routine looks like nowadays?

My every day is different, it’s definitely an adjustment and a challenge to balance between family and business. But everything is possible if you just prioritize tasks throughout the day.

Your brand — Lemon Ve Limon — is proclaimed to be sustainable. Is that really such an important part in your positioning? Do you care a lot about climate change?

I wouldn’t call myself a climate activist, however I believe that everyone can and should make their positive input on our climate and environment. Whether it’s re-wearing a dress or sorting trash for recycling or buying sustainable fashion.

Also, I believe that at the end of the day, we don’t need to buy that many clothes. If you invest in quality product that will last, it will prevent you from buying many unnecessary low quality items that will end up in trash after few washes. So I’m definitely all for quality.

Do you miss designing jewelry? Would you ever design it again?

If I had a spare time, I probably would. Well, you never know… Like recently I saw a show on Netflix called “Beef” and I spotted an old friend and an amazing actress, Maria Bello, was wearing one of the rings that I’ve designed years ago. So I was like, “Wow! I’ve must have done a great job if she is wearing it!” That made me really proud.

And now you’ve been successfully designing lounge wear… Is it very different from working with the jewelry?

Yes, it definitely is. It’s interesting, though I loved to design jewelry, I am not a big jewelry person myself — I enjoy making it more than wearing it myself. Where when it comes to lounge wear, it’s just a part of who I am. You will either see me dressed to the nines or being super casual and wearing sweats, there is no in between. I live in my hoodies and sweatpants. I guess it’s also part of Los Angeles lifestyle.

Did Los Angeles inspired you to create Lemon Ve Limon?

Absolutely! Los Angeles is all about athleisure and lounge wear and sunshine. People in LA are out and about, the weather is always so beautiful.

What are the future plans for your brand? Are you planning on any collaborations?

Yes, I would absolutely love to have collaborations in the future, I am looking into interesting new technology sustainable fabrics and maybe do a collaboration with something unique —like fabric made from lemon seeds or something crazy like this. Also, I would love to have a collaboration with a shoe brand, maybe sneakers like APL (Athletic Propulsion Labs) or Nike. Working with other brands is always interesting. I think to see other creative vision is always exciting!

Who did you want to become when you were a little girl?

Oh, I had so many different things in mind as a child! I guess like every little girl at some point in life wanted to be a singer or a dancer. I also wanted to work in a candy store, so I could get access to all sweets.

As I got older, I realized that I want to be a business owner and to be a boss. But I also always had a creative part in me, so I wanted to be able to express my creativity, that’s why I started to design jewelry.

Which female entrepreneurs inspire you or you admire?

Wow, that’s a tough question! There are so many amazing, incredible boss ladies out there. Barbara Sturm would be one of them for sure, she built an empire and I have so much respect for her and lucky to know her in person, I am also absolutely obsessed with her skin care brand. Anastasia Soare is another incredible female entrepreneur, that woman is such a success story!

And I am a big fan of Oprah, she is the living proof that everything is possible if you work hard and believe in yourself. She is an inspiration to me! I could probably go on and on, as there are so many incredible women out there.

Is there any advice you would have for women who would like to become entrepreneurs?

Dream big, believe in yourself, respect others, be classy, surround yourself with the right people and avoid toxic people. I think these things would be good to start with.

And the last question: where are you going next?

Cannes Film Festival. I’m sure it will be fun!
