Julien Crozet is no stranger to risk. With over two decades in the luxury chauffeur industry and a lifetime shaped by personal encounters with insecurity, he has transformed his vision into LEON — the first app that merges mobility, security, and cutting-edge technology into one seamless experience. From Paris to the French Riviera and Miami to Dubai, LEON’s founder mission is clear: to democratize access to private security guards and bodyguard drivers while preserving the aura of exclusivity.

In conversation with Global Networker Magazine he reflects on the spark that ignited LEON, the bold personal investments behind it, and why he believes the future of safe, luxury mobility is already here.

You’ve described your mission as “democratizing access to private security drivers.” What was the moment that crystallized this idea for you?

After being robbed multiple times, I realized that personal safety in mobility was a problem no one was solving — neither traditional security firms nor new mobility apps. And then it became clear: if nobody else would step up, why not me? That was the spark that led to LEON.

Having spent over two decades in the luxury chauffeur industry, what lessons did you bring into the launch of LEON, and what did you have to completely rethink?

Back in 2000, I was scammed by a fake taxi in New York. Instead of frustration, it triggered an idea: what if you built trust through great service at a fair price? For years, investors dismissed it as “impossible to scale.” But Uber proved it wasn’t. With LEON, I’ve taken that vision further: combining luxury, safety, and accessibility for everyone.

LEON uniquely combines mobility, security, and even crypto. What makes this integration so powerful in today’s market?
We live in the era of super-apps. The companies that win are those that integrate today’s technologies while preparing for the next decade. By combining mobility, security, and crypto in one ecosystem, LEON isn’t just following the trend — it’s defining it.

LEON doesn’t just promise safety — it offers an elevated experience. How do you see the intersection of luxury, security, and peace of mind shaping the future of high-net-worth mobility?

High-net-worth individuals don’t want to feel like they’re paying more for less. They want exceptional service that justifies the premium. LEON was built on that principle: secure, reliable, and worthy of their trust. Safety and luxury are no longer separate — they are one.

Your clientele ranges from international executives to VIPs in the French Riviera. How do you translate exclusivity into a scalable service without compromising prestige?

It’s about alignment. Suppliers think short term; clients think long term. My job is to negotiate common sense into both sides. Scaling LEON requires diplomacy, vision, and the ability to protect exclusivity while expanding reach — something I’ve mastered over two decades.

Many investors look at scale versus quality. You’ve emphasized preferring “slower growth with the right agents.” How do you convince investors this is the smarter path?

I call it Diagonal Growth. Horizontal is too slow. Vertical is too risky. Diagonal is the sweet spot — scaling fast enough to prove profitability without sacrificing quality. With €5M as the early-stage first round of financing, LEON can demonstrate both: scale and sustainability. Few startups can promise that balance. This is why I personally went all in — not with a concept, but with a real app, with real revenues already on the market.

LEON is already active in Paris and the French Riviera, with plans for Geneva, Miami, and beyond. How do you prioritize new city launches?

There are ten cities that define the world of the ultra-wealthy. We prioritize those hubs — French Riviera cities, Miami, Dubai, Geneva, Paris — especially during major events and seasons. This allows us to operate like luxury hospitality brands: global presence, year-round relevance.

What unique challenges do you face when expanding into global hubs like Miami or Dubai compared to European cities?

Europe is the hardest market: bureaucracy crushes entrepreneurship. In contrast, Miami and Dubai thrive on speed and ambition. For me, adapting to those markets is natural. Dubai today feels like America in the ’80s and ’90s — where opportunity meets execution. LEON belongs there not so much for security, since the UAE is already one of the world’s safest places, but as a service to showcase our model globally.

Can you share a bit about the role AI or emerging technologies play in strengthening safety and personalization on the platform?

AI is inevitable. Ignoring it is like ignoring the Internet in 1996 or mobile phones in 2000. We’ve already seen how influencers and crypto went from dismissed to dominant. At LEON, we embrace every relevant technology early, ensuring we don’t just follow disruption — we leverage it first. Twenty years ago, I bought my house in America after analyzing Florida’s crime map. Today, AI works 10,000 times faster — imagine what we can do with it now.

You invested over €1M of your own capital into building LEON. How do you manage the personal and professional risks of such bold commitments?

You need a touch of madness, for sure. But history shows us: what seems impossible today becomes obvious tomorrow. Thousands of examples prove it. Combining security and mobility may not sound revolutionary, but nobody had done it. That’s why I had to — because it’s too easy to wait for governments, politics, or others to do what you could finally do yourself.

As a father and entrepreneur, you often say you treat every client as family. How has that philosophy shaped the company culture at LEON?

It’s our DNA. Too many businesses treat clients as inconveniences. At LEON, the client is king. I tell my team: when a client calls, it’s like they’re saying, “Do you want the money in my hand?” The answer is always yes. That mindset makes us different. Be grateful to have clients — they pay bills, they remove pressure, they allow us to grow. Always.

You’ve built companies on two continents and across industries. How has entrepreneurship shaped your daily lifestyle — from routines to mindset?

Entrepreneurship isn’t “work” for me — it’s my passion. Like others fish or play sports, I build businesses. What excites me most isn’t just revenue, but discovery: meeting new cultures, industries, and perspectives worldwide.

Innovation often requires resilience. What personal rituals or philosophies help you stay ahead of the curve while navigating uncertainty?

Positivity. It’s the ultimate resilience. If you can walk through chaos with a smile, you’re unstoppable. Like in the movie Life Is Beautiful, I believe in smiling until the last second. That philosophy has carried me through every storm.

Looking five years ahead, do you see LEON more as a mobility company, a security company, or something entirely new?

Both. Security will become part of every industry. Where there is safety, there is growth. Where there isn’t, chaos reigns. LEON is redefining mobility by making security inseparable from it. That’s something entirely new.

Finally — why LEON?

Because one day, all of us won’t be here for our children and grandchildren. But the need for safety — fast, reliable, respectful, and affordable — will remain. Who will protect them then? LEON. That’s why this company matters. It’s not just a business. It’s a legacy.
