Ukrainian fighter Serhiy Bohachuk is set to take on Uzbekistan’s Israel Madrimov in the undercard of the blockbuster Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury rematch on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The match was confirmed through a social media post by Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority.
Bohachuk, a former WBC interim light middleweight champion, is coming off a contentious loss in his August 2024 fight against Virgil Ortiz. Despite dropping Ortiz to the canvas twice, Bohachuk lost by split decision, leading to the forfeiture of his WBC interim belt.
Madrimov, Bohachuk’s opponent, also suffered a recent defeat in August 2024. The Uzbekistani boxer, who once held the WBA light middleweight title, lost to American Terence Crawford by unanimous decision.
The matchup between Bohachuk, who holds a record of 24 wins (23 by knockout) and 2 losses, and Madrimov, with 10 wins (7 by knockout), 1 draw, and 1 loss, is expected to be a fierce contest that will heighten the excitement around the Usyk-Fury headliner.
