In a captivating video posted on Twitter, Saudi Arabia has revealed its eagerness to host Expo 2030 and promote a brighter tomorrow. The bid for hosting this extraordinary event was presented by the Saudi delegation at the 172nd General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Paris.

The candidacy file, aptly titled “Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow,” revolves around fostering technology, innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity. One of the key aspects of the bid is the Kingdom’s pledge to provide equal exhibition spaces for all participating countries, ensuring a fair and enriching experience for all.

Saudi Arabia’s Investment in Expo 2030

Underscoring its dedication to making Expo 2030 a resounding success, the Kingdom has committed a substantial investment of $7.8 billion. Khalid al-Falih, the Saudi Investment Minister, proudly highlighted this significant allocation during the presentation of the candidacy file.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the tremendous opportunities Expo 2030 presents for global cooperation and finding innovative solutions to common challenges. The bid emphasizes the values of innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity that are at the core of the Riyadh Expo 2030 vision.

A Global Platform for Cooperation

The Saudi bid to host Expo 2030 includes a generous support package for participating countries. The Kingdom has allocated $343 million to assist 100 nations in various aspects, ranging from pavilion construction and maintenance to technical support, travel, and events.

Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Ambassador to the United States of America, expressed the Kingdom’s ambitions and achievements, emphasizing that Riyadh is an integral part of Saudi Arabia’s remarkable success story. She highlighted that Riyadh Expo 2030 aims to welcome 40 million visitors, offering a unique blend of cultures and pavilions.

Riyadh Expo 2030: A Boost to the Saudi Economy

Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, the Minister of Investment, elaborated on the exhibition budget of $7.8 billion, which aligns with the broader investment plans for Riyadh. This investment falls in line with Saudi Vision 2030, targeting national-level investments of over $3.3 trillion by the end of the decade, with at least 30% allocated to the city of Riyadh.

Acting CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Sultan, expressed the city’s readiness to build and host the Riyadh Expo 2030. With unwavering confidence, Al-Sultan assured that the exhibition will be fully prepared to welcome visitors by 2028.

The Anticipated Announcement

The final decision on the host city for Expo 2030 will be announced during the upcoming BIE General Assembly in November 2023. Each member state of the Bureau will cast a vote in a secret ballot to determine the winning city that will have the privilege of hosting this globally significant event.
