Golden Boy Promotions head Oscar De La Hoya sharply criticized Zuffa Boxing and Dana White, saying that the new company’s involvement in boxing only complicates negotiations and prevents major fights from being made.

In an interview with Fight Hub TV, the former world champion did not hide his frustration.

“Every time Zuffa Boxing gets involved, everything turns into a mess. I don’t know whether they don’t understand what they’re doing or they simply don’t want to follow the rules.”

According to De La Hoya, the existing boxing system is built on cooperation between promoters, and this collaboration is what makes major fights possible. However, the arrival of Zuffa Boxing, led by UFC president Dana White, has created serious disagreements within the industry.

One of the main topics of the interview was Ryan Garcia’s future. De La Hoya confirmed that the former champion will return to the ring soon, although negotiations for his next fight remain complicated.

“Ryan Garcia will fight again soon. The only question is how the deal can be put together — whether Zuffa will be involved or not.”

De La Hoya also stressed that Garcia’s next fight should take place on DAZN, where both the boxer and Golden Boy have existing agreements.

In recent weeks, a potential fight between Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn has generated significant interest. However, Zuffa Boxing’s involvement in the negotiations reportedly caused a serious conflict between the parties. Golden Boy has even issued legal notices, claiming violations of its promotional rights.

The promoter also dismissed rumors about a possible fight between Ryan Garcia and Vergil Ortiz Jr.

“It’s simply a misunderstanding. Vergil has his own career, and Ryan has his own. They’re on different paths.”

Despite his criticism, De La Hoya did not completely rule out future cooperation with Dana White if all parties can reach an agreement and respect existing contracts.

The dispute surrounding Ryan Garcia has become another chapter in the clash between traditional boxing structures and the new model that Zuffa Boxing is trying to introduce. As negotiations continue, the future of a potential Ryan Garcia vs. Conor Benn showdown remains uncertain.
